IIT, Madras, students get best-ever packages

Pocket Gem, a US-based video game company, has recruited three computer science students of IIT, Madras, on a salary of USD 1.37 lakh (around Rs 69.87 lakh) per annum.

IIT, Madras, Deputy Registrar (placement) S Nagarjan, told that this was the highest ever offer received by a student of IIT here.
   
Social networking site Facebook has taken five students on a annual salary of USD 1.25 lakh (Rs 63.75 lakh), while Google has recruited four students at a salary of USD 1 lakh (about Rs 1 lakh) per year.
   
In the campus recruitment held during the last two days, 47 students had been selected, which again was the highest in the history of IIT here, he said. Last year 28 students were selected, he added.
