UK to bring out special maths schools

Britain has decided to set up number of schools specializing in maths as it sees the subject as a "fundamental strategic priority" in education.

It is part of the government's 600-million-pound drive to improve education.

Soon, Chancellor George Osborne will announce the plan, where many new institutions for students between 16 and 18 aiming at providing "highest quality maths teaching in the world" will be set up.

The fund will be provided over the next three years, and pupils hoping to study at the new establishments will have to go through a special process devised by the department of education.

With the growth in digital technology, maths is regarded to be of increasing importance to the economy and to offer students better job prospects
