New members in state common board of school education

The former professor and head of the Anna Centre for Public Affairs at the University of Madras, R Thandavan; MNM Jain Engineering College secretary and correspondent Harish L Metha and Presidency Higher Secondary School headmistress Susan Edward have been appointed education expert members to the State Common Board of School Education, which is in charge of implementing the common school system in the state.

The Board is headed by school education director P Mani, while directors of government examinations, matriculation schools, elementary education, teacher education research and training, assistant secretary to government and joint director of school education will be ex-officio members. Three experts and a representative each from matriculation, oriental and Anglo-Indian schools will also be part of the board.
