Austia helping in improving education systems

Chandigarh: The Government of Austria had been helping in improving the education systems of developing countries though its initiative of setting up of organization called Eurasia Pacific Uninet which was rendering fellowships and scholarships to outstanding and brilliant students from China, Mangolia, India, Pakistan and other south Asian countries, a senior official said here today.

Although Austria was a small country and could not contribute a large amount for this purpose but a substantial amount of funds have been placed in the hands of the ministry for fellowships to outstanding and brilliant students from various countries for study to some of the worlds centres of excellence located in Austria such as university of Vienna, Vienna Medical School is known for the department of Ophthalmology and Trauma Surgeries, Martin Mucha, representative of Ministry of Eeducation, Austria said.

The University medical school of Innsbruck is a centre of excellence for study in protoeomics and biotechnology.

Looking at the progress made in this field in China the Government of Austria is keen to carry out these activities in India as well, he said.

He said that Austria was conducting an annual conference on Proteomics in Seefeld  every year which is attended by world renowned scientists and Noble prize winners.

Punjab Medical Education and Research Minister Tiksan Sood held a meeting with Martin Mucha here.
