Impart technical education in an easy and interesting manner, said Noble Laureate Robert C. Richardson. He is in the city to attend the Science Conclave at Indian Institute of Information Technology.
Richardson visited Shambhunath Institute of Engineering and Technology (SIET) on Friday along with his wife Betty McCarthy and Prof RC Tripathi, dean, IIIT-Allahabad.
He inaugurated the newly built academic block-D of SIET. Richardson, an American scientist, was awarded the Noble Prize for physics for his discovery of super fluidity in the isotope Helium-3.
He advised students to enjoy learning rather than taking it as a burden and exhorted teachers to impart instructions in simple, easy and interesting ways. Success can be achieved only through hard labour and perseverance and there is no short cut to it, he said. Betty McCarthy shared her experiences with the audience and said at times Richardson gets so much involved in his research that his whereabouts are not known for weeks.
Prof R C Tripathi of IIITAllahabad highlighted the role of Indian engineers in the field of information and technology. SIET director Prof KP Singh gave the vote of thanks.
