KU spends Rs 36.50 lakh on renovating VC residence, office

University of Kashmir has spent Rs 36.50 lakh on renovating the vice chancellor's official residence and office, the institute has said in response to an RTI application.
 
As per the reply to the application filed by RTI activist Raman Sharma, the university spent Rs 35.10 lakh on renovating the official residence of the vice-chancellor in 2008-2009. It included purchase of sanitary items, renovation of a kitchen, painting of roof and renovation of electric works.
 
Riyaz Punjabi held the office of the VC during 2008-09. The varsity also spent Rs 1.40 lakh for renovating VC office during 2008-09 and 2009-10
