SSSM demands amendments in RTE Act

A local organisation of managers of private schools and colleges today said it would protest the implementation of the Right to Education Act in madrasas and vedic schools, demanding certain amendments in the Act.
 
"If necessary changes were not made in RTE, madrasas and vedic schools will be closed as they will loose affiliations," said Zafaryab Zilani, convenor of the Shiksha Sangharsha Sanyukt Morcha.
 
Zilani said the organisation's district units would sent a memorandum to HRD Minister Kapil Sibal and Chief Minister Mayawati through the local administration on Nov 26.
 
The RTE Act, which was introduced in 2009, provides for free and compulsory education to all children in the age group of 6-14.
