The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2011 for admission to IIMs and other B-schools concluded today "successfully" with 2,05,345 candidates appearing for it.

"The computer-based test which was held in a staggered format for close to one month in 68 test centres across 36 cities was completed successfully," said a statement issued by Prometric, which conducted the test on behalf of the IIMs.

"CAT 2011 reflected various improvements including a consolidation of testing sections from three to two, and a more streamlined candidate check-in procedure, which cut check-in time by half an hour," the statement said.

Prometric also opened two new world class state-of-the- art testing facilities in Gurgaon and Hyderabad. There were 2,05,345 registered candidates this year as against last year's 2,04,267 and the test duration was increased from 135 minutes to 140 minutes (70 minutes per section) this year, the statement said.

The results are expected to be announced on January 11, 2012 and candidates will be able to log in to view their results on the CAT website www.catiim.in.
