Updated on: Monday, November 14, 2011

IIT Madras will be organizing a competition on "Autodesk Inventor Student Design" on 16th November 2011.

The Autodesk Inventor Student Design Competition is intended to stimulate creativity, intellectual, and develop technical presentation skills, collaboration, and team-building in a 3D design project.

Indian Institute of Technology Madras in association with Autodesk, academic & industry partners invites student teams from mechanical engineering & related disciplines to digitally design assistive and rehabilitation devices for people with any form of impairment. This device can be fabricated in a cost-effective manner that will be greatly useful in India. All engineering student teams from multidiscipline can contribute new ideas to this design challenge using Digitally Prototyping concept.

Autodesk offers prizes to teams who create the most sustainable and eco-friendly device. In the design of assistive and rehabilitation devices, design strategies that make effective use of energy, material, and other resources can make designs more sustainable, cost-effective, and user-friendly. Also, improving the products lifetime by designing for durability and repair will keep your device in use longer, saving both materials and money.

Teams will be judged on how well they incorporate the Sustainability Design Strategies that are explained on the Autodesk Sustainability Workshop.

Inauguration of the program is at 09.30 to 10.a.m. and venue for the same is IC&SR Auditorium, IIT Madras Campus.

The main sponsor is Autodesk. Other educational institutions like IIT Bombay, PSG Technology, Coimbatore are also part of this event.
