Varsity recklessness annoy students

Anna University has left two students in troubled waters by allotting them non-existent course in a private engineering college

The two boys have been given seats in 'textile technology' at Sona College of Technology (SCT) in Salem, whereas the institution has only a 'fashion technology' course.
'The college turned me away saying it does not teach the textile technology course. I sought an appointment with the vice-chancellor at the Anna University to plead my case but I wasn't allowed to meet him,' one of the two victims, S Gopalakrishnan from Taramangalam in Salem district, said.

At the counselling for vocational stream students, Gopalakrishnan was told that SCT has a course in textile technology and he applied for the same. However, when he took the allotment letter to the college, he was turned away saying that there was no such course in the college

'I was willing to take any other course available in that college but I was shooed away,' Gopalakrishnan said. Seeking for  justice after knocking many doors,  the student has landed at the special cell of chief minister M. Karunanidhi hoping to get justice. 'I hope I will not end up losing a year because of this bungling by the university,' he said

Subsequently, SCT sent a letter to Anna University pointing out that the ‘fashion technology’ course of the college was being titled as ‘textile technology’ at the university counselling for engineering seats
