Updated on: Saturday, November 12, 2011

A court here declined bail to four doctors accused in the case relating to alleged malpractices in the post-graduate medical entrance test conducted here in January this year.

Judicial First Class Magistrate M B Kulkarni, however, allowed the bail pleas of 17 other accused.

The bail applications of the prime accused in the racket Dr Vinayaka Prasanna, former Director of Vijayanagar Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS), where the test was conducted here, his wife Dr Vanaja, Dr David and Dr Somashekar, were rejected.

Some candidates complained about alleged malpractices in conduct of the exam after results showed the 11 top ranks were bagged by those who had appeared at VIMS' centre. CID is probing the matter.
