Indismart, the only luxury business hotel in the IT hub of Kolkata, presented a potpourri of Indian and International cuisine at its restaurant along with the special bakery section offering a wide range of savouries and confectionaries.
With the onset of winter it organised its pre Christmas cake mixing ceremony, recently. With its loyal corporate clientele mixing the best of ingredients for the Christmas cake, it became a fun event.

Pabitra Chattopadhyay, executive chef of Indismart, said, “This is a very traditional ritual, and is done usually three-four moths prior to Christmas. Even though the cake mixing ceremony is taking place a bit late, we can guarantee the same taste.”

Chattopadhyay being an ex-Taj chef declared that the people of Kolkata can enjoy the same quality feast at a much reasonable price here. The event started with renowned chef Shaun Kenworthy explaining the custom, which he said had come from the UK where the dry fruits were mixed and made into a porridge which was later made into a cake.

Dry fruits like cashew nuts, tuti fruity, dates, raisins, dry mangoes, black currants, figs etc were mixed with liquor by the bakery section staff and guests. The other hotel staff joined in the ceremony. The mixture as informed by the chef will be kept packed for a month, and then some more liquor will be added to it to enhance its taste.

Chattopadhyay also added, “This is a special cake which will only be served on Christmas, but our bakery is also offering a wide array of cakes which are completely homemade and available in variant flavours.”

The hotel also launched its list of gift hampers which will be available at Wow Café, their vibrant open space café in the lobby during the Christmas and New Year. Along with that the hotel during the festive season are also offering flavoured chocolates which they believe will be the most sought after.

Mint, orange and fruits are some of the different flavours listed. The confectionary will be available at the café, the hotel menu and also at a special counter called ‘Good Food’ outside the hotel for easy reach.
