Global Minds Essay Competition for young minds

Gateway House Indian Council on Global Relations, a foreign policy think-tank in Mumbai, is launching the second all-India Global Minds Essay Competition for young Indians. The topic is: “Ashoka or Arthashastra: which theory can better shape India’s foreign policy and future?” The essay competition is a way to increase awareness of the foreign policy choices facing India.

The panel of judges for this year includes: Navdeep Suri (Joint Secretary and Head of the Public Diplomacy Division, Ministry of External Affairs), Sunil Khilnani (Professor and Director of the South Asia Studies Programme, School of Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins University), Rajni Bakshi (Gandhi Peace Fellow, Gateway House) and Vidya Shah (EdelGive Foundation).

The competition is open to all Indian nationals from 15-19 years of age. The essay must be no longer than 1000 words and can be written in English or any Indian language.

The last date for submission is December 31, 2011. The top three winners will receive a cash prize of Rs 5000, 2500 and 1500 respectively.
