Dehra Dun: The Medical Council of India (MCI) has given recognition to Srinagar Medical College in Uttarakhand paving the way for admission of students in MBBS course.

Official sources today said here that Srinagar Medical College got clearance after a team of the council thoroughly inspected the facilities and faculties on July 2 and found them satisfactory for running an MBBS course.

Earlier, Medical Council of India visited the college in June this year also, but had refused to give recognition to the medical college stating that the college lacked proper facilities and faculties required for running the medical course.

Following the refusal from MCI, the state government launched efforts to improve facilities. They also filled the vacant posts of the faculties and urged the MCI to pay another visit to the college and reconsider its earlier decision.
