SRM plans to set up Engineering College

Chennai:Sri Ramachandra University plans to launch an engineering college soon in Tamilnadu.

The SRM health service center celebrated its 11th convocation and 976 medicos received certificatesn including 14 Ph. D scholars in the ceremony.

During the function, vice-chancellor Prof S.Rangaswami  said that the proposed engineering institution would be called Sri Ramachandra Institute of Technology

Moreover the university also has plans too start Sri Ramachandra Sports Sciences Centre in collaboration with the university of Cape Town, South Africa.
 
The department of environmental health engineering would be recognised as a centre for advanced research on environmental health.

In the ceremony, Prof Yadav encouraged the fresh graduates to avail the opportunities and challenges, that unless opportunities were created, quality manpower could not be created. Intellectual capital and skill were essential for human capital. Education must be provided with human face.

Chancellor V.R. Venkatachalam presided over the function. A total of 97 research projects were completed in 2008-09 and 204 research papers were published in national and international journals. There are 127 ongoing projects while many more are waiting for approval by funding bodies.
