M S University to set up office of international affairs

The city-based Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU) will establish an office of international affairs for promoting collaboration between it and foreign universities or institutions.

This was informed by MSU Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh.

"This is part of 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Sir Sayajirao Gaekwad III, the erstwhile ruler of princely State of Baroda who established Baroda College in 1881 which was converted into a full fledged university later," he said

The celebrations will start in January.

Talking to newspersons, Singh said,"there are over 40,000 students, including foreigners, studying in 13 faculties of the university."

"It has been decided to establish an office of international affairs and a guest house for accommodating foreign delegates taking part in international conferences being organised at MSU at regular interval," Singh said.

"We hope to get a grant of Rs 75 lakh from University Grants Commission (UGC) for its construction," he added.
