HC admits plea against dismissal of Varsity's syndicate

Kerala High court admitted a writ petition challenging the dismissal of the Syndicate and Senate of Calicut university.
 
Justice Antony Dominic admitted the petition filed by C H Ashiq, former syndicate member and eight others and ordered issue of notices to the Kerala Governor, who is also Chancellor of the University, and State Education minister.
 
The court also ordered issue of notice by special messenger to members of ad hoc syndicate.
 
According to the petitioners, the dismissal was without notice and on the basis of a letter by the Vice-Chancellor.
 
The decision was politically motivated and was taken within a week of the new Governor M O H Farook assuming charge, it was submitted.
