IGNOU to launch culinary institute next year

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will launch its culinary institute by July next year and has signed a pact with Sweden's Gothenburg University for collaboration and support in the project.
 
The objective behind the proposed Institute of Culinary Arts (ICA), which will be under IGNOU's School of Tourism and Hospitality Services Sectoral Management, is to bring fresh and highest parameters of excellence in culinary research and documentation to India, the university said in a release here.
 
"The institute will be launched with three-year degree programmes in culinary arts, culinary management and catering technology and one year diploma programmes in food production and patisserie as well as food processing," it said.
 
It also said that the university has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gothenburg University, Sweden for collaboration and support in actualisation of the ICA and the culinary research centres.
