Course in music therapy

The Chennai School of Music Therapy has launched a certificate course in music therapy, a professional training programme, in Chennai. The course is designed to provide the participants a broad understanding on music therapy basics and principles, methods and procedures and the ways by which Indian music healing systems could be integrated into contemporary music therapy practice.

The course was designed by the School in collaboration with IMC University of Applied Sciences, Krems, Austria.

The part-time programme is run on weekends and is of six months' duration. The class duration is four hours per week and the total hours for the course completion is 100 hours.

The course fee is Rs. 30,000 and is open to musicologists, musicians, psychologists, medical professionals, special educators, music educators, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, alternative and complimentary therapists and/or any bachelor's degree holder in science who has a passion for music. The school also runs a one-year Professional Post-Graduate Diploma Programme in Music Therapy during weekends, upon completion of which a professional certification is accorded by the school. Internship in clinics/hospitals for music therapy-related career shaping is yet another advantageous feature of this course.
