HC pulls up former official for securing daughter's admission

The Chhattisgarh High Court came down heavily on a former state director of medical education for allegedly misusing his official position in securing admission for his daughter and her friend in a medical college.
 
The bench of Justices I M Quddusi and G Minhajuddin dismissed the petition filed by the two girls, challenging the state government's order to cancel their admission.
 
Former Chhattisgarh director of medical education S L Adile allegedly facilitated admission of his daughter Akanksha and her friend Priya Gupta in Jagdalpur Medical College under reserved seats through the Central pool in 2006.
 
The state government on a complaint by one Anil Khakhriya had conducted a probe and cancelled the admission of the two.
 
The students had challenged the state government's decision in the High Court, which granted a stay on the order of the state government.
 
The petitioners had secured interim permission from the High Court to allow them to appear for all the semester examinations.
 
The court though allowed them to appear for the last semester it had reserved its order pertaining to their answer sheets and results for the same.
