After a fresh directive by the Delhi University, a number of colleges came out with the eight cut-off list for OBC candidates, some bringing down the required percentages to as low as 70 per cent even for much sought courses like Economics and Commerce.
The fresh list shows that many colleges still have substantial seats in the reserved category that are yet to be filed, though not in all courses.
With colleges failing to fill their mandated 27 per cent OBC quota, the University had ordered colleges to lower the cut-off marks for the category and not convert any of the reserved seats to general category.
The list, which is the eighth for this season, comes even after classes have begun for the academic season in the semester mode.
Among the colleges that lowered the cut offs were Hans Raj, Hindu, Kamala Nehru, Deshbandhu, Dayal Singh, Miranda House and Sri Venkateswara.
In Deshbandhu, the cut-off required for admission to Eco (H) was set at 69 per cent, while that for BCom (H) was 73 per cent. In Dyal Singh, the same was 77 and 73 per cent respectively. Kalindi College lowered Eco(H) cut-off to 70 per cent, while Miranda House brought it down to 83.5 per cent.
In Science courses too, the cut-offs were brought down to as low as 57 per cent in some courses in some colleges.
The admissions for this list will be made over the next two days, and the colleges have been asked to inform the University about the status of OBC seats after this round of admissions. Another cut-off list has been scheduled if seats remain vacant.
Until last year, if seats reserved for OBC candidates had remained vacant, they were transfered to general category students. The process has been completely stopped this year.
