This is a big relief to 65,000 students across the state who appeared for this year's II PU supplementary examinations: Bangalore University has decided to extend the last date for admission to its undergraduate programmes.
The varsity has complied with government orders and extended the date to August 12 from the existing June 30. Though the government had asked BU to extend the date, the delay in issuing orders had created anxiety among students. Some students were sent back by colleges stating admissions for 2011-12 was over.
The decision is important for colleges as results of II PU supplementary exams were announced only earlier this week. Usually, non-Karnataka students report for admissions in the second week of August. This includes foreign students who have to face several visa procedures.
