The BEd counselling entered the fifth day on Monday. As many as 35,071 candidates had locked their seats across the state so far.
There are roughly one lakh seats in 971 colleges across the state. As the first phase of counselling is to continue till July 27, it is expected that a large chunk of the remaining seats would be locked by the aspirants in the days to come.
As far as government colleges offering BEd are concerned, the seats are almost full in the colleges affiliated to Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University. According to the counselling staff at CSMU, there are 120 BEd colleges affiliated to the university. The seats in the government colleges are full, now the candidates are left with the option of selecting the self-aided colleges.
BEd counselling coordinator Sandeep Singh at CSMU told TOI that the seats in the government colleges affiliated to the university are full.
The craze for choosing the self-aided colleges within the city is high among the candidates.
On Monday, the counselling began late. The candidates could get the chance for filling the choice of colleges only at 11.15 am. The counselling was supposed to begin at 9 am.
Around 1,251 candidates had filled the choice of the college out of 1,408 who had registered themselves on Monday across all the five centres in the city. The counselling was going on when this report was filed.
In the past five days, out of 8,956 candidates who had registered themselves with different counselling centres in the city, 8,037 had received allotment letters.
