Patna University extends admission date again

Patna University (PU) has once again extended the last date of admission to undergraduate courses by three days with a view to filling up maximum number of seats. Now PU colleges can admit students against vacant seats till July 22.


Even as the number of seats in different colleges of PU were almost doubled this year, the colleges are finding it difficult to find adequate number of students. Hence, the last date of admission to the undergraduate courses is being extended again and again.


B N College admission in-charge M N Sinha said that about 150 seats, including 70 in science stream, are still vacant. Some seats might remain vacant even after July 22, he apprehended.


Patna College admission in-charge Randhir Kumar Singh said that more than 100 seats were still vacant in BA Part I honours class. A fresh cut-off list for candidates of different categories would be published on Tuesday so that the vacant seats could be filled up.


In Patna Science College, however, only a few seats are vacant in BSc Part I honours class. College admission in-charge Rabindra Kumar said that some candidates have been called for admission on Tuesday. He expressed hope that all the 600 seats would be filled up.


New heads: Patna University (PU) got as many as four new heads of post-graduate departments on Saturday evening. The appointment of new heads has been made on the basis of rotation.


The new heads of departments are Vijay Shankar Dube of geology, Prabhakar Jha of personnel management and industrial relations, Renuka Kumari of ancient Indian history and archaeology and Indrani Gupta of Bengali. While all other outgoing heads completed three-year term, Binod Kumar Thakur sought voluntary retirement after attaining the age of 62.
