Around 4,000 students seeking admission in MBA and MCA courses of Gujarat Technological University (GTU) fear losing their chances of securing admissions. This, because their final year results have not been declared yet. Most of these are engineering students.
While GTU has announced July 18 as the last date for submission of marksheets for admission in the MBA and MCA courses, the results of final year engineering examinations of Saurashtra University, South Gujarat University and Gujarat University have not been declared.
Earlier, GTU had decided July 7 as the last date of submission. However the date was postponed to July 18 as the results of the final year examination of the engineering students were delayed. But even as this extended deadline is approaching, the students are sweating bullets. One such student Ashish Patel said, "It is very unfortunate that the university officials are so irresponsible. I am afraid that I am going to lose the opportunity to take admission in MBA just because my final year results have been delayed."
According to the information given by GTU, out of the 14,482 students who have been shortlisted in the merit list for admission in MBA, a total of 2,309 students have still not submitted their marksheets.
For admissions in MCA course, out of 9,600 applicants, 1,658 have not submitted their marksheets.
