Today, the first phase of counselling begins in Chennai for students who had applied for MBBS and BDS courses in Govt affiliated colleges.
Through counselling, 1653 MBBS and BDS government quota seats are being filled in 17govertntment colleges and other self-financing colleges.
The first phase counselling for these allotted seats begin at the Directorate of Medical Education, Kilpauk, Chennai.
1,118 candidates had applied under special category. Among these 3 students in Sports quota, 66 differently abled students and 15 candidates under ex-service men quota have been called for the counselling.
Counselling for general quota commences from 1st July and extends to 6th July. It would be held at Kilpauk Medical College Auditorium. Totally, 20, 769 applications were received in this category. Out of which, 20,123 were accepted.
Speaking to presspersons, Health Minister, Vijay told, " Due to the swift action of the government, self-Financing colleges have come forward to surrender the government quota seats. Accordingly, that would facilitate counselling for an additional 750 seats which would also be conducted”, he said
