The wait for admission to engineering colleges got a little longer. The Karnataka government on Thursday postponed the CET engineering counselling to July 7 from the scheduled June 27.
Counselling was postponed as the government is waiting for the All India Council for Technical Education's nod (AICTE) for seat matrix in about 30-35 colleges, higher education minister V S Acharya told reporters here.
The government will hold counselling on Saturdays and Sundays too to complete the process as per the original schedule. This rides on the hope that the AICTE nod will come within a week.
Acharya said the government has secured AICTE approval to consider students, who studied electronics and computer science, for admission to engineering courses. Until now, only three optional subjects — chemistry, biotechnology and biology — were considered along with physics and maths for eligibility.
