The first phase of counselling for admitting students in various colleges affiliated to Gautam Buddh Technical University and Mahamaya Technical University began at Hartcourt Butler Technological Institute on Wednesday.

On the first day of counselling, the documents of successful candidates were verified and checked. Nearly 350 students reached HBTI on the first day and got their documents verified. The complete filled up forms of 183 students who could provide with their educational and caste certificates were acknowledged and others were rejected. These were the students who had cleared the Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Exam (UP-SEE), the results of which were declared recently.

The authorities of HBTI said that the forms of general category students who had less than 50% in their graduation and the students of SC/ST category with below 45% marks were rejected. This was done according to the norms of GBTU and Mahamaya Technical University.

The staff of HBTI also checked the mistakes that the students had made in filling the counselling forms.

This year, the counselling is being done in two parts. The first round of counselling will continue till June 28. In the second phase of counselling, the students will be allotted colleges affiliated with the two universities across the state.

The authorities of HBTI involved in the work of counselling said that before the start of the counselling phase II, the details of number of seats available in various colleges across the state will be uploaded on the university's website.
