Second cut-off list may offer hope

Updated on: Wednesday, June 22, 2011

There is life beyond the first cut-off list for Delhi University aspirants. After a week of disappointment and dilemma, even for toppers, colleges are set to release a second list on Tuesday, and some drop in cutoffs is expected in the general category in many courses, particularly in off-campus colleges. As off Sunday, seats were available in most colleges even in popular courses such as BCom (Hon), Economics (H), English (H) as well as science. Majority of colleges, including Hans Raj, Kirori Mal, Hindu, Lady Shri Ram, Venkateswara, SGTB Khalsa, Gargi and Kamala Nehru confirmed they would bring out a second cut-off list in many courses.

At Kamala Nehru, 1-2% may be shaved off existing cut-offs. Shaheed Bhagat Singh College principal BC Sehgal said cut-offs for English (H) could drop by 2-4 per cent. At Hans Raj, cutoffs for science courses may drop 1-2%, while BCom (H) would see only a marginal fall. Sources in off-campus colleges said their second cut-offs may drop by 5% in many courses.
