Goa Univ to have centralised campus recruitments

Updated on: Saturday, April 23, 2011

Goa University (GU) will host its first ever centralised campus recruitments from this year onwards, which will have more than 30 top notch firms vying for the best talent on the campus.
The event tagged as 'Recruitment Fair' will take place at the GU campus on April 30.

GU Assistant Registrar Rajesh Bhatikar told that the best of the corporate from the state and across the country will be interviewing 500 post graduate and under graduate students.

Interestingly, the list of recruiters also includes Non Government organisations (NGOs) like Help Age India and Smile Foundation who will handpick the best brains.

Bhatikar said that this is for the first time that GU is holding centralised campus recruitment.

"Earlier, we had certain departments like management studies, computer science and technology and chemistry having the campus recruitments," he said adding that the centralised recruitment fair will give scope for non-conventional courses like social science and languages.

The recruitment fair will have post graduate students along with under graduates pulled from various affiliated non-professional colleges vying for the best offers.

"All the professional colleges have their own campus recruitments, so we have kept them out of the list," Bhatikar said.

GU will not intervene on the salary package offered by the companies. "Our job is restricted to only bringing companies and candidates across the table," he said.

Companies like Sesa Goa, Fomento, Wipro, Patni Computers limited, Watsons, Lupin Ltd, Aventis Ltd, Vodafone, HDFC, Dhanalaxmi Bank, Yes Bank and Karvy Consultant Ltd will be sending their representatives in the fair.

Two recruitment agencies --  Fine Edge and Career Connections -- will also be interviewing the students.
