The Union Public Service Commission will conduct the Indian Economic Service/Indian Statistical Service Examination (IES/ISS), 2010, on December 4 at various centres in the country. The examination is held to recruit personnel for Grade IV of the Indian Economic Service and Indian Statistical Service. Information relating to eligibility conditions, the syllabus and scheme of the examination and the centres where it is being conducted and guidelines for filling up application form aspirants is available in Employment News/Rozgar Samachar dated June 5, said an official announcement.
The minimum age for candidates is 21 years and the maximum 30, as on January 1, 2010.
Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes/Other Backward Classes, physically challenged persons and certain other categories of candidates are eligible for relaxation in the upper age limit. Aspirants for the Indian Economic Service must have a postgraduate degree in economics/ applied economics/ business economics/ econometrics and those for Indian Statistical Service must have a postgraduate degree in statistics/ mathematical statistics or applied statistics from a recognised university.
Those who choose to apply offline should use the UPSC's common application form, which can be purchased from designated Head Post Offices/post offices throughout the country at a cost of Rs.20. In case candidates face difficulty in obtaining the application forms from the post offices they should contact the concerned Post Master or UPSC's Forms Supply Monitoring Cell over telephone: 011-23389366 ( Fax: 011-23387310).
Candidates can also apply online: http://www.upsconline.nic.in up to June 28 (till 11.59 P.M.).
All offline applications must reach the “Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi – 110069” either by hand, post or courier on or before the July 5.
