The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Regional Centre, Thiruvananthapuram, has invited applications for management aptitude test OPENMAT to be held on August 22 across the country for admission to the following management programmes:
Master of business administration
Postgraduate diploma in management
Postgraduate diploma in human resource management
Postgraduate diploma in financial management
Postgraduate diploma in operations management
Postgraduate diploma in marketing management
These programmes are offered through study centres. IGNOU will be admitting students for the above programmes from January 2011.
Eligibility: Graduates in any discipline with at least 50 per cent or Master's degree holders in any subject are eligible to apply. There is no age limit. Application form and prospectus can be downloaded from the website www.ignou.ac.in. The duly filled in application along with a demand draft for Rs.550 drawn in favour of IGNOU, payable at New Delhi, should be sent to the Registrar (SED), IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi – 110068 by registered post so as to reach the addressee on or before July 15.
B.Ed. course
Applications are also invited for an entrance test to be held on August 22 across the country for admission to the two-year B.Ed. programme. The degree is recognised by NCTE and offered by utilising self-instructional materials and information technology along with interactive personal contact programmes and judicious mix of theoretical and practical courses.
Eligibility: Candidates with a Bachelor's degree holders with at least 55 per cent marks and having at least two years of teaching experience in government or any recognised school can apply. There is no age-limit.

The duly filled application along with a demand draft of Rs.550 drawn in favour of IGNOU payable at Thiruvananthapuram should be sent to the Regional Director, IGNOU Regional Centre, Chekkalamukku, Sreekariyam, Thiruvananthapuram-695017 by registered post so as to reach the addressee on or before July 15.
MBA in textile management
The Sardar Vallabhai Patel Institute of Textile Management (SVPITM), Coimbatore – 641004, under the Government of India and the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), has jointly invited applications for admission to its two-year MBA (textile management) course. It is a fulltime on-campus programme and the MBA degree will be awarded by IGNOU and it is recognised by the AICTE.
Graduates in any discipline with at least 50 per cent marks can apply. The selection is based on an entrance test, group discussion and interview. PG courses at Calicut Varsity
The University of Calicut has invited applications for admission to its MA, M.Sc., M.Com. and M.LiSc. courses conducted at its different centres like science, commerce and management studies, arts and humanities and languages.
The Faculty of Science, Calicut University campus, Thenipalam, offers M.Sc. degree course in applied plant science, applied chemistry, biochemistry, human physiology, mathematics, microbiology, physics, statistics and applied zoology.
The Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies, Thenipalam, offers M.Com. courses.
The Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Languages offers MA course in Arabic languages and literature, Malayalam, Hindi, Sanskrit, history, comparative literature, English language and literature; M.LiSc.; MA degree in philosophy, political science, women studies, economics, music and theatre arts.
