UP RajarshiTandon Open University (UPRTOU), the sole open university of the state, has introduced a number of reforms from this academic year to enhance the quality of education provided to its students.
Releasing the new admission brochure for July 2013 session at a press conference here on Thursday, vice-chancellor of UPRTOU Prof AK Bakhshi said that pre-admission counselling for the students will soon start at its five regional centres at Allahabad, Lucknow, Varanasi, Gorakhpur and Bareilly in the state. The first counselling would take place at Allahabad regional centre on July 3. The purpose of counselling is to tell the benefits of open and distance education and also to answer their admission related queries.
Prof Bakhshi said that the new admission brochures are available at 5 regional centres and 531 study centres spread across UP. Now students can download the admission form from the university website (www.uprtou.ac.in) and submit the form along with requisite fees. He said that under the new round the year admission policy, the last date for July 2013 session is September 15, 2013.
Soon after submitting the admission form the students will get self learning materials (SLMs) along with assignments at their residential address by registered post. The last date for submission of assignments for the July 2013 session at the study centres is October 30 2013. Those students who do not submit their assignments in time would not be allowed to sit in the terminal examination of that paper. The evaluation of assignments is also now done at regional centres to make the whole process more transparent.
