Seven private medical colleges surrender 265 seats to be used to sponsor candidates through CENTAC

A total of 265 seats have been surrendered by seven private medical colleges in Puducherry, official sources said on Saturday.

This was done at a meeting chaired by chief minister N Rangasamy, here on Friday. Representatives of the managements of theses colleges were also present.

These seats would be used to sponsor candidates for the MBBS course in the private medical colleges here through Centralised Admission Committee, popularly known as CENTAC, during the current academic year 2013-2014.

A release from the secretary to health G.Ragesh Chandra said these seven colleges have surrendered 265 seats in MBBS course for the government. Four deemed colleges out of the seven institutions have surrendered 122 seats while the remaining three colleges affiliated to Pondicherry University have earmarked the remaining seats.

These colleges together have an intake of 900 seats.
