Counseling for candidates applying under sports quota commences on june 17

Anna University is gearing up to take on a colossal task in the education front in Tamil Nadu for the next 40 odd days of conducting counseling for Engineering studies in Tamil Nadu, in the most refined manner.

According to Anna University, counseling for the academic year 2013-2014 begins on June 17 and continues until July 26.

On June 17, counseling for candidates applying under sports quota commences. This session of counseling is for exemplary sports persons who have represented and won medals at university, inter-university, state, national and international levels. Sports counselling ends on June 19.

Until, last year, there were 100 seats allotted under this category. After the announcement made by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, seats allotted under this category has been increased to 500.

With almost 1.82 lakh candidates applying for engineering studies, Anna University sources say that there are nearly 2 lakh seats available this year. As a result, everyone who has applied will get an Engineering seat. It is also expected that there would be 30,000 absentees.

Next, counselling for differently- abled persons is held on June 20.

Counselling for academic regular students begins on June 21 and ends on July 26.

Counselling for vocational stream students commences on July 1 and closes on July 12.
