Private schools on Friday opposed Delhi government's proposal for reserving an additional 15% seats for children from poor families in institutions given government land at a concessional rates.
A delegation of private schools, during a meeting with education minister Kiran Walia, expressed strong reservations against the proposal as they have already been providing 25% seats to economically weaker sections as per provision of the Right to Education Act.
The government is likely to convey its proposal to the high court next week. A total of 394 private schools were allotted land at concessional rates on condition they would reserve seats for poor.
