Entrance examination to obtain admission into Sainik Schools across India for 2013-2014 session will be held on 6 Jan, 2013, according to an official spokesperson.
The last date to submit the application forms is December 10, 2012.
Sainik School came into existence in the 1960s and the primary objective was to remove regional imbalances in the officers cadre and to develop qualities of body , mind and character that would make young boys and girls good respectable citizens who could serve the defence academy.
These schools are named after the localities where they are situated. Admission is confined only to class 6th and class 9th and the standard of the entrance examination is equivalent to the CBSE boards.
Sainik School admission is confined to boys of sixth and ninth standard. Admission is purely based on the merit list declared.
Sainik Schools prepare students for joining the NDA or the National defence Academy of India.
All Sainik schools are affiliated to the CBSE board and are also members of the prestigious public schools conference.
Entrance exam pattern and syllabus:
Written Test:
Class VI
1) Mathematical Knowledge Test & Language Ability Test (2 hours)
2) Intelligence Test (1 hours)
Class IX
1) Mathematics & Science (2 hours)
2) English & Social Studies (2 hours)
The question papers will be in English only.

Duly filled application forms have to be submitted to the office along with the registration fee of Rs 475 and Rs 325 for the backward classes.

All Sainik Schools are affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi.
