The Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) said that the Supreme Court has granted it permission to conduct its own entrance examination for academic year 2013.
In a hearing held on November 6 in the Supreme Court, the IRMA has been allowed to conduct its own written test and admit students for academic year 2013, an official statement said.
IRMA's entrance test is scheduled to be held on Sunday, November 11, across 27 cities all over the country.
IRMA had filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court challenging an All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) directive to admit students based on entrance tests like CAT, MAT, XAT, ATMA and CMAT, which it considered as a directive interference with its functional autonomy, an official release said.
According to IRMA, the entrance examination designed by it is necessary to maintain the standard of education and spot the best talent suitable for programmes offered by it.
