Mumbaiis one of the most preferred student destinations in the country with many outstation students applying for various courses across city colleges. Since the admission process is not centralised, students have to apply separately to each college. The admission procedure in the colleges is in the last stage, with most of the well-reputed college having exhausted their seats within the first three merit lists. All those colleges with vacant seats will continue with the admission procedure till June 30.

Some of the favourites are Ruia College, Sydenham College, both affiliated to the University. St Xavier’s College, another much sought-after college in the city, is the only autonomous one under the University of Mumbai. “We design our own courses, do our own evaluation. The degree is given by Mumbai University,” said Frazer Mascarenhas, principal of St Xavier’s College. For admission to medicine and engineering courses, students from Maharashtra have to appear for a common entrance test.
