Most of the engineering aspirants expressed a desire to join computer science engineering and information technology programs.

“India does not seem to be affected either by global economic slowdown or the ongoing Euro debt crisis which is evident by the number of projects IT companies have right now. So, I have chosen to join computer science course to make good money,” Manivannan, a class 12 student from Saidapet, said.

Pointing out that several top IT companies had started recruiting students from private engineering colleges after the recession, R. Sudha, another student, said one could earn a lot and travel across the world if placed in a top IT company, which made her look at B.Tech (information technology) for a career.

Karthik, a class 12 student from a top private matriculation school in the city, said several core companies, including mechanical, automobile and construction companies pay as well as an IT company and so he has decided to join ME.
