Many colleges, one online application

Updated on: Monday, February 06, 2012

In a new technological innovation, a common online application form for 14 MBA colleges in India has been launched to facilitate the application process for MBA aspirants. This form will allow students to apply online as well as track every step of the admission process.

Generally, the process of application to an MBA college includes identifying a college, checking the course and modules; obtaining the prospectus and form, tracking the admission and repeating the process for a few colleges. For a student applying for a college outside of his/her hometown, the issues may multiply. The online form has been introduced to smoothen this process.

Under the integrated system, a student will first have to create his/her profile on shiksha.com. It will require the student's basic information like name, email address, mobile number and a password to access the account. This basic information will be stored on the site and a student will need to fill in the additional information that will vary with specific colleges. The profile of the college, eligibility criteria , application fee and deadline are mentioned on the website. An FAQ as well as a telephone number is listed to guide students facing any issues.

Important documents can be attached and payment can be made online using a debit or a credit card. Students will also be able to track the admission procedure through email notifications and text messages on the site. This concept has been floated by shiksha.com, the education site of naukri.com group.
